L and M Dream Meanings

Dream Dictionary – Dreams Beginning with the Letters L and M

When using the Dream Dictionary Guide, be sure to “look up” each dream symbol, color, and number you remember from your dream as well as the emotions you felt or encountered during the dream AND upon wakening from the dream. All of these are clues that’ll help you piece together the puzzle that is your dream’s meaning and interpretation.

L

Label. Dreaming of labels speaks to how you feel others see you. A label is, after all, how others identify you. This type of dream means that you are at least a little concerned with how others are “labeling” you. This could be a group of people you are concerned about or it could be just one individual.

Labor. To dream of laboring or working indicates a desire to get something in particular done.

For a woman to dream of being in labor (if she is not pregnant) indicates that she is expecting something. If a woman is pregnant, this is simply the subconscious mind’s way of preparing for the blessed event.  If, during the dream, something goes wrong, it is absolutely not a bad omen – it simply means the mother-to-be is anxious, excited, and maybe a little nervous. Understandably!

If a man dreams of being in labor (or of being pregnant, even), he feels that he has unrealistic expectations placed upon him.

Laboratory. Dreaming of a laboratory usually means you are trying to work something out in your daily life.

Lace. Lace is symbolic of femininity and fragility. If the color of the lace stands out to you, read more about what colors mean in dreams.

Ladder.  An ladder dream suggests the dreamer is headed in a particular direction. The ladder is symbolic of the move the dreamer is taken, has taken, or will take. If the experience with the ladder is a negative one – such as the ladder breaks, the climber falls, or the ladder isn’t as tall as it needs to be – it implies either hesitation or a lack of complete self confidence on the dreamer’s behalf.

If the experience with the ladder in the dream is a positive one, it indicates the dreamer is completely at peace with the upcoming (or recent) move and feels great about it. At the very least, the dreamer has made peace with the situation.

Lake. If you dream of a lake, the interpretation is a desire for calmness and maybe even a little escapism. You want to just get away from it all.

Lamb. Dreaming of a lamb is often a very Spiritual dream, as Jesus is the Lamb of God. It can also represent great innocence and kindness.

Lame. If the word “lame” stands out to you from your dream – say an individual was “lame,” as in unable to walk or you heard or thought the word “lame” in your dream – the implication is that you feel something isn’t quite right in your life or around you.  This could be a case of feeling inadequate for a particular task or it could be a deep-down feeling that someone isn’t what they appear.. that something just isn’t right.

Many, many times a word such as this will turn up in our dreams for the simplest of all reasons – we recently heard, or said, the word and it stuck out. We either found its use to be particularly funny, uncalled for, or disturbing. For whatever reasons, the word stuck out to us, and this is why if made its way into our dream. Very often the reason behind a dream is the simplest reason of all – something stood out to us, so we carried it over into our dream.

Lamp. Lamp dreams (as well as light fixture dreams) indicate “seeing clearly”  or even an illuminating, eye-opening experience. Usually this means the dreamer recently saw something clearly, for perhaps the first time, or their eyes were opened to a situation. As a lamp being “turned on” can help us see what’s in front of us, the symbolism is of the dreamer awakening to something that was right in front of them.

If the lamp is off and/or the dreamer can’t get it to turn on, the implication is that the dreamer knows he/she is missing something. This is similar to the brain saying, “What am I missing?!

Laughter. Laughter is the language of joy and happiness, so dreaming of laughter means the dreamer is looking for more happiness and pure joy in life.  Often, laughter dreams remind the dreamer to lighten up and enjoy life. Stop looking for things to frown about and find the ones to smile about… better yet, find things to laugh about!

Lawyer. Dreaming of lawyers (or anything associated with lawyers) indicates an argument at its highest apex. This would be the thing or things you are most willing to stand your ground and fight for or over.  Depending on your view of lawyers (or perhaps your experience with members of this profession), a lawyer could symbolize intelligence, determination, greed, or corruption.

Leather. Leather, in dreams, usually symbolizes strength, durability, and “toughness.” Many dreamologists believe that if you dream of wearing leather, it’s a symbol that you feel a need to be protected. If you lived through 80’s music videos, you could simply feel pretty good about yourself.

Lemons. If you dream of a lemon or lemons, it most probably indicates something you think of as “sour” or something that your feelings have “soured” on. However, because lemons in tea and desserts are so delicious, it could also mean something sweet.

Lemons are also very much associated with summer, so dreaming of lemons could be your mind’s way of saying you’re ready for summer – cookouts, lemonade, ballgames, mowing the yard… your subconscious mind could be like, “Bring it on!”

Lift/Lifting. If you dream of lifting, the dream interpretation depends on a few details.

  • If you dream that you’re able to lift something relatively heavy, it is a sign you’re feeling confident in your daily life.
  • If you dream that you’re able to lift something BUT have a great deal of trouble, you deep down feel confident in your abilities about something in particular but feel that you’re going to have to “give it all you’ve got.”
  • If you dream that you are unable to lift something, there is something or someone who is making you feel weaker and less confident than normal.
  • If you dream of watching someone lift something, you have been contemplating something in particular that would require action on your part.
  • If you dream that someone lifts you, you are desirous of a little help in an area of your life. You need a helping hand but hate to ask anyone for it.

Light. (light bulbs, light fixtures) Please see Lamp, above.

M Dreams Below…

M

Magic. Dreaming of magic means that we have been trying to get our absolute best to come to the forefront.  If a dreamer is performing magic in the dream, he/she either feels like they have been creating a little magic in their life or are currently looking to do so.

Marines. To dream of being or seeing a Marine indicates the dreamer seeks discipline and structure either in their life or in the life of someone they care about. If you see a Marine in your dream, it could also symbolize great respect you have for an individual or for your country in particular. If you dream of being a Marine, you could be looking for respect, yourself.

Martyr. If you dream that you are a martyr, your mind is telling you that you’re spending entirely too much time worrying about what others think of you. It’s time to get on with your life and stop focusing on who is or isn’t giving you respect or credit.

Maze.  Maze dreams are all about confusion. They strongly express a feeling of not knowing which way to go or which way to turn.  The level of difficulty the maze poses to the dreamer indicates their level of confusion.

Medicine. Dreaming of medicine suggests that the dreamer knows there is something he/she must go through that’s unpleasant, but necessary. They realize that in order to get to where they want to be (or to bring about what they want to bring about) – they have to pay their dues or take their medicine to get there.

Medicine can also, obviously, indicate the dreamer has been thinking about an illness – either real or imagined in their life or someone else’s life.

Mermaids or Mermen. Mermaids (and mermen) symbolize an entirely different reality than the one we live in day to day. They represent a whole other world, where anything and everything is possible. This type of dream is an escapism dream – one where you want to get away from something in your life, if only for a short time.

Mermaids/Mermen can also symbolize strong belief in something or someone – especially when it seems that you’re the only one who DOES believe in them.

Milk. Milk can symbolize childhood (either the dreamer’s own or that of their own child). It can be a longing to return to a simpler life or a time when the dreamer’s children were small.

However, very often, milk is actually referring to the color white. White, in dreams, stands for stands for purity (snow), peacefulness (dove), and freedom (clouds). It can also stand for cleansing – think of bleaching laundry, for example. When bleach is added to whites, it removes all traces of dirt and the result is a blindingly white garment.  Dreaming of white can indicate cleanliness or cleansing – one that has taken place or one the dreamer feels needs to take place.

Finally, milk can represent contentment and a feeling of having all that you want or need.

Mints. A mint is symbolic of refreshment. If you dream of mints, you want to refresh something in your life – possibly a relationship or even your own attitude.

Money. This is one of the easiest dream symbols to nail down. When you dream of money, it means you have something you’d very much like to buy but don’t have the money for. It could also mean a desire for “more money,” which most of us can certainly relate to.

The reason money dreams more often symbolize a desire for money or a desire for what money buys as opposed to actually having all the money we need is this: We spend more time thinking about money we don’t have than we do thinking about money we do have.  And, since dreams spring from our thoughts more than anything else, this is (as a detective would say) and open and shut case.

Monster. To dream about something you would classify as a “monster” implies that something (or even someone) looms large in your life – in a negative way. You feel that this person or situation poses a threat to you, in some way. While you may or may not fear them, you do fear what could happen.

Interestingly enough, different types “monsters” actually have their own personal interpretations. This particular interpretation is if, when describing your dream, you would use the word “monster” to describe the deviant!

Murder. Dreaming of murdering someone or seeing someone murdered is one of the most unsettling dreams of all time – yet it does NOT mean you wish to murder someone. It simply means you are pretty angry at or upset with someone in your daily life. This may or may not be the person illustrated in the dream. As I often say, the dreaming mind “casts” roles at whim and the individual you are furious at may not be the one you kill or see killed in your dream. This person may, actually, be perfectly innocent!

A REMINDER: The Dream Dictionary is a very “fluid” section of Dream Prophesy, in that it is forever changing. I add dream symbols and entries to the dictionary regularly and often even “flesh out” or “add to” old entries. Why? Because symbolisms change regularly.  If the exact same dreams were experienced in, say 1975 and 2015, the interpretations would be vastly different. Different things symbolize different things over time and, therefore, the meanings change. This is why outdated and “ancient” dream guides are inaccurate.

The only accurate dream dictionary or dream guide is the one frequently updated.
