What Your Dreams Mean and Why it Matters So Much
Do you remember the last dream you had? Were you being chased, looking for something you’d lost, or frustrated with a door that wouldn’t open?
Was a lost loved one in your dream and did they seem as alive as you are today?!
Maybe there were snakes in your dream and you still can’t shake the eerie feelings they left you with.
Each of the types of dreams I listed above (in addition to the countless other dreams we have each night) are more than just dreams: They’re messages.
No, I’m not going to say something like, “If you dream about snakes, you’ll meet someone next week who’ll give you a million dollars.” You may or may not have such luck! But if you DID, it certainly wouldn’t be because of the dream. Your sleeping mind doesn’t really have any more information about what will happen next week than your “awake” mind does. The ancient dream guides that suggest otherwise are delightfully fun to read, but accurate?
Thankfully, no. I’ve had a few dreams that would have surely cursed me if they were accurate.
While ancient dream guides are used for little more than amusement, Dream Analysis is a VERY worthwhile and helpful study. A modern dreamologist who is on top of his or her dream study can be incredibly helpful to you.
We all want to get the best that life has for us and we know that the only way to do that is to get the best out of ourselves. Having your dreams analyzed by a dreamologist is a simple, enjoyable, and fascinating tool to use to help make these things happen.
Remember, above, when I said, “Your sleeping mind doesn’t really have any more information about what will happen next week than your ‘awake’ mind does.”? Well, that’s completely true, HOWEVER, the sleeping, or unconscious, mind is more in tune with what’s going on in the present and the past. It’s uncluttered or distracted by its environment – so it can completely delve into its emotions, thoughts, and issues. And that’s exactly what it does – it dives right in.
“Dreams are illustrations… from the book your soul is writing about you.” – Marsha Norman
However, for the individual who isn’t familiar with dream symbols or the other particulars of dreams, the importance of the dreams will be lost forever! That’s why it’s so important to find someone who speaks the language of dreams and can help you to get to the bottom of your own dreams and their meanings.
If your subconscious mind senses trouble (or at least the potential for trouble) in a particular area of your life, it will often use dreams to communicate the potential problem.
Dreams can also alert you when your emotions are getting the best of you.
Always pay close attention to your dreams and use our dream dictionary to help you find out what your dreams mean. You may be missing something very important!

Can You “Make” Yourself Have Lucid Dreams?
- A Lucid Dream is a dream in which you realize you are dreaming.
- Lucid Dreams are more vivid than other dreams. The yellows are more yellow, the blues are more blue, the emotions are larger, the fear is stronger, and so on.
- Have you ever seen the movie Vanilla Sky? This was an example of Lucid Dreams hitting the big screen!
- During a Lucid Dream, a certain “clue” or “sign” will alert the dreamer that is actually a dream.
Lucid Dreams First Used by Frederik van Eeden
The term Lucid Dream was first used by Frederik van Eeden who used the word “lucid” in the sense of mental clarity. When something tips us off in a dream that it is, in fact a dream, we regain our mental clarity. The clue that tips us off could be seeing someone we realize is deceased, having a magical power such as invisibility, or being able to fly, etc.
Lucid Dreams occur in different “strengths” or “levels.” They’ve gotten a great deal of attention because many people believe we can use them to “control” our dreams and, even, help us solve problems.
Can You Make Yourself Have Lucid Dreams?
The questions on everyone’s mind are, “Can I make myself experience lucid dreams” and “How can I make myself have lucid dreams?!” There’s a bit of a controversy over this particular subject.
Some dream experts believe you absolutely cannot make yourself experience lucid dreams. They argue that these dreams only occur supernaturally and cannot be provoked or invited in any way.
Personally, I believe that “making” yourself experience lucid dreams isn’t nearly as easy as it sounds. There’s certainly no switch to turn on and you can’t “will” yourself to have lucid dreams.
Having said that, however, I believe you can set the stage for experiencing lucid dream. There are steps you can take to become much more in tune with your dreams and this will, in turn, set the stage for lucid dreaming. Once the stage is set, so to speak, they are much more likely to occur.
I’ve written an article How to Have Lucid Dreams, read the article for 10 easy ways to help set the stage for lucid dreaming.
Lucid Dreams Category on Dream Prophesy
In the Lucid Dreams category, watch for many upcoming articles addressing this very premise. As a dreamologist, I am very passionate about Lucid Dreams. I believe they can, like all dreams, give us a lot of insight into our emotions, our thoughts, our core beliefs, etc. A greater sense of self can be gained by paying closer attention to our dreams.
That’s what this site is here for – to help us identify exactly what our dreams mean and what they’re trying to tell us. We’ll learn how to use this information to bring peace into our heart and minds as we build the lives we’ve always… well…dreamed of.

Set the Scene for Lucid Dreaming!
Most of us who are fascinated with dreams, dream interpretation, dream analysis, and the meaning of dreams are equally fascinated with lucid dreaming. Lucid dreams are dreams in which we feel as though we are very much awake. Lucid dreams seem brighter, louder, more vivid, and more alive than most dreams.
Is it any wonder so many people are asking, “How can I have lucid dreams?!”
It’s all about setting the stage and creating an atmosphere where lucid dreams are more apt to occur. I talk more about setting the stage in an article about lucid dreaming (linked to in the first paragraph above as well as at the bottom of this post) but I’d love to tell you about something that’ll help you create an atmosphere, or scene, in which you’ll invite lucid dreams into your life.

Dream Prophecy, Dream Dictionary, and Dream Interpretations
If you were a regular visitor to the previous Dream Prophesy, you already know what a passion we have for dreams, dream analysis, dream interpretations, the meanings of dreams, and dream prophecy.
We live for this!
If you’re new to Dream Prophesy, please kick back and make yourself at home. We hope you’ll browse through the dream interpretations and dream dictionary.
Dream Prophesy was a thriving, hugely popular website and blog for many years. However, when we added a forum to the site, things went downhill fast. The software we used was, apparently, easy to hack and that’s pretty much what happened. We lost our HUGE website and blog in a matter of minutes.
Years of (very) hard work – gone in the blink of an eye. Talk about leaving a bruise. Unfortunately, the bruise was so uncomfortable that we considered not trying again.
After all, where’s the fun in starting all over again from zero?!
Then we started thinking about the wonderfully colorful and fascinating people who came to the site and blog regularly. The people we talked to through e-mail and comments daily. We missed all of you and didn’t like the thought of not providing a service for you that you obviously benefited from and enjoyed.
So, the bruise has healed, we’re starting all over (like I said, from zero – we don’t have any of our old posts, articles, dream interpretations, dream analyses….anything…. saved) and, to tell you the truth, we’re as excited now as the first time around. Actually, even more so, because now we know the wonderful dreamers that are on the other side of these words.
Please spread the word to everyone you know that Dream Prophesy is back up. If you go to other blogs and/or forums, please spread the word like first graders spread colds! The more people who come and share their dreams and thoughts, the better it’ll be, the more fun we’ll all have, and the faster we’ll get this site built back up!!!
