Falling Dreams
"Falling dreams" are very common in the world of dreams. While it's annoying to dream of falling, you can rest assured that your life isn't in jeopardy...whether or not you jerk awake. No one's quite sure where that myth got started, but there isn't anything to it.
Falling dreams, at their core, reflect some sense of failure or inferiority within the dreamer......whether or not this is a justifiable insecurity. If someone dreams that they are falling, if they look closely at their life, they will most assuredly find a situation in which they feel that they don't quite measure up. It could be at work or school - maybe a task lies ahead that they aren't sure they're capable of handling. It could be closer to home than this, perhaps a spouse, or other family member, is expecting more from the dreamer than he or she feels able to give.
This type of dream almost always occurs during the early stages of sleep. The reason for this is unclear, but you can count on it nonetheless.
Interestingly enough, Sigmund Freud believed that falling dreams indicate that the dreamer is contemplating giving in to a sexual urge or impulse of some sort. Then again, Freud gave sexual conotations to just about everything!
If you dream of falling, examine your life. Is there an area you feel less than confident in? If there is, work harder.....study and research....do whatever you need to do to gain confidence and alleviate your anxiety. We're all capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for, all we have to do is make up our minds to devote time and energy to the task at hand. When you become more confident in your ability and knowledge, your anxieties will vanish, and they'll take troubling dreams with them!
