Decorate Your Bedroom to Sweeten Your Sleep
We spend so much time and care (not to mention $$$) when it comes to decorating our Kitchens and Living Rooms. We fret over the little details such as throw pillows and oven mitts. We think about the mood we want to set, what we want our kitchen to "say", and on and on and on.
We should pay at least as much attention to our bedroom. After all, we spend more time in this room than any other!
Let's agree, first of all, what we should be striving for. What is the ideal bedroom?
- A great bedroom is one where you can relax and unwind. It should be as close to a heavenly retreat as possible.
- Your bedroom should recharge your batteries, so to speak, every night. You should wake up feeling refreshed and invigorated.
- There shouldn't be lots of clutter or "dust-magnets" around. Clutter screams disorder, untidiness and mess. And who can sleep with all that screaming going on?
Okay, we want our bedroom to be relaxing yet invigorating. We want it to wind us down and get us going. And, most importantly, we don't want - make that, we won't allow any clutter.
Today, take a good look at your bedroom. What's the first thing you think of when you look at your room? Do you wish it said something else? What are the things you like about the room? What are the things you don't like? Let's get started making your room say what you want it to say!
Why don't we just start with that clutter right off the bat? Let's get rid of it, or at least find another spot for it. Do you have clothes on the floor or draped over chairs? They have to go, and make it clear that they aren't invited back. The laundry room will be more than glad to take them in, actually it's been expecting them.
