Dreaming of Celebrities

Writing by Joi on Sunday, 15 of April , 2007 at 10:32 am

Recently Submitted Dream:
recently i had a dream where my friend and i were at a concert and went to the
toilets, one by one the members of our favourite band entered the last one being
my complete idol gerard way, hes an important character to me and i kissed him
on the cheek and felt really hysterically happy.
they then played a cover of a song and gerard sat next to me, i remembered to
tell him about somthing i was going to send him through the mcr site. then when
we sat down i was about to ask him about the band, a question which has been
eating at me this week and just as he was to answer he looked sort of worried
and i said i had to go, he walked me to my car and hugged me and we drove away
him still standing there. the following night i had a dream they played at my
school and i couldnt get tickets then his security left him when trying to
escort him and he recognised me from the dream before. he asked me and my friend
for help and we went to go grab our bags i returned and me and him were about to
have a meaningful chat i asked him about the meaning to a favourite song of mine
and he got the same worried face then i was awokened by a family member.

what does this mean why did it re occur. and does it have anything to do with
the band?

Celebrity dreams are very, very common. Usually - though not always - the celebrity (or celebrities) are symbolic of something else: An emotion, a period of time in your life, or a loved one.

For example, I had a man e-mail me once about a recurring dream he was having about “Burt Reynolds.” He said he couldn’t remember when he’d last seen a Burt Reynolds’ movie, and (in his day to day life) hadn’t thought about him in two forevers!

I asked him what he thought of when he thought of Burt Reynolds. I wanted to know what kind of emotions and feelings he associated with the actor. He replied back that he thought of the time when he and his wife were first married - they watched every Burt Reynolds’ movie ever made. He said he would tease her about having a crush on him - and that they’d have a lot of fun with it.

So (holding my breath and hoping AGAINST the worst) I asked him if anything had happened recently to his wife or marriage. I was SO relieved when he responded that she was fine and the marriage was fine - but that they never got to spend any time together. He’s a pastor of a church (with nearly 1,000 members!) and she volunteers with several charities - apparently they’re great, great people but he missed her!

I told him that his dreams simply meant that he was longing for a period of time represented by Burt Reynolds. They had to recur because he hadn’t yet taken care of the problem! I encouraged for him and his wife to make a point of spending more time together.

I’m happy to say he went out that night and bought 5 Burt Reynolds’ movies, a box of microwavable popcorn and a six-pack of Pepsi. The dreams went away and they’re working their way through all of Burt’s movies….even, in his words “the rotten ones.”

Ask yourself a similar question: What emotions and feelings do you have tied to gerard way and this band? Is there a particular person (or people) who you think of when you think of them? Is there a particular song that means something special to you?

One thing really stands out to me about your dream - and that’s “frustration.” You had several instances in the dream where something frustrating happened - situations you couldn’t control. I think this is also symbolic of something you’re probably experiencing in your life. Something has happened that you didn’t want to happen - OR something you wanted to happen has not happened. You’re having feelings of disappointment and frustration, and your mind is simply trying to make peace with it all.

If there is someone you think of when you think of this band, or their music - your heart may be telling you that it wants to reconnect with them.

Best of luck and thanks so much for sharing your dream!

Ahoy, Pirates!

Writing by Joi on Friday, 13 of April , 2007 at 10:19 pm

I’ve been having a lot of dreams lately about the ocean and being on ships, often involving pirates. They are never identical, but the ocean is always indescribably beautiful blue green, calm and cool and sometimes I am swimming in it, or sailing over it, and it seems to go on forever. . . I always feel this immense sense of joy and freedom when I see it. Sometimes I have adventures on boats or ships in these dreams, or I am swimming with dolphins. What does this mean?

The dreams sound vivid and awesome - you must look forward to going to sleep. I certainly would!

The first thing that came to my mind when reading your dream was that you’re ready for something new in your life. When we’re ready for a change or a fresh start, we often think in terms of adventures. In all actuality, it isn’t a pirate’s adventure we’re really after - far from it! What we really want is a change of pace. The pirates, themselves, represent boldness and an ability to “take” what you want from life. What you seem to want is a change from the ordinary.

This is most definitely the time of year when people start longing for different sights and sounds. Most of the year can find us on the move: Visiting different places, taking vacations, going for scenic drives, walking in the park, etc. But winter hits and we seldom see anything outside of our home, office, and favorite grocery store.

I think you said it best when you described how the dream made you feel - “I always feel this immense sense of joy and freedom…” - that, in a nutshell is what you’re looking for. The joy and freedom to embrace more of the world than old man winter is allowing at the moment.

Having said all of that, even people in exotic locations like the Florida Keys have similar dreams and longings. What place a person living there would long for is beyond me, but even Floridians want to see as much of the world as possible.

Thanks a lot for sharing your dream!

Joi

P.S. WhereDO Floridians go for vacation?!
