A while ago I had a dream about my friend telling me that she hated me. What does that mean?
Interestingly enough, the “friend’s words” were actually your own. You may have done something that day (or very recently) that you felt very bad about. Maybe you lost your cool, got a speeding ticket, didn’t do well on an exam, or failed to write down an spenditure in your check book. All of which suck big time and leave a person feeling angry with themselves.
So angry, in fact, that deep down inside we hate ourselves for it! This carries over into our dreams - and we “cast” someone in the role of making us pay for it!
When I got a speeding ticket last year, I dreamt that I was attacked by a shark! At first, I thought the dentally agressive beast represented the police officer (who actually had a nice smile) - and that thought kind of made me happy…. But then I realized that I was kind of “punishing” myself for being careless and not paying attention to what the speed limit was.
At least your friend didn’t eat you in your dream!
If you’re upset with yourself over something, do what you can to make it right - then after you’ve done that, let it go. We’re all human and they make the worst kinds of mistakes. Fortunately, we have the ability to learn from our mistakes and not fall into the same trap again.
Thanks for submitting your dream!

A re-ocurring dream that never fails to leave me with a feeling of fear and
curiousity. In my mind it seems so short, but the memory remains vivid and
everlasting. It is a nightmare that I had as a child - and even now.
In the dream, I am talking to my mother inside of a certain house that my
grandmother built. For some reason, as I am talking to my mother, I end up
outside walking. My intentions are to pick flowers for someone. Everything
around me is black, and white, but in a distance I see a small field of red
roses - VERY vivid in color (the most beautiful roses I had ever seen.) As I
walk over, a sense of fear overwhelms me, yet I keep walking closer… In the
center of this small field of roses I spot this HUGE rabid, black dog staring at
me with these fiendish red eyes. (The image still burned into my memory.) My
heart stops. I start to run and the dog is chasing me. My heart starts pounding
louder, harder, and faster. I get back into the house and nobody is there, so I
start slamming all of the doors behind* me. When I finally reach the bathroom, I
lock the door and I turn around to see the dog three feet away. As I start to
scream, the dog sinks its teeth into my flesh and I wake up with sweat beaded
along my forehead. This dream…I know it means something but I can’t quite
grasp it.
There is a legend I am told of in Germany with the same description of the
animal. The dog is said to be a shape-shifter whose true form is the devil, but
what could this mean? I am still left pondering this re-occuring nightmare.
Your dream is a classic example of both “turmoil” and “anxiety.” More than likely, there’s a presence of each in your life right now, at least to some extent. There are also quite a few symbolisms of indecisiveness - the opposite nature of the roses and the fear, for example. There appear to be things in your life that you’re “torn” between - it could be careers, friends, family members, or goals. Something isn’t allowing your mind to fully “rest” and the “restlessness” is carrying over into your dream world.
The fact that the nightmare is recurring means that these feelings have been long-term feelings. They would suggest (though, of course every situation is different) that the feelings of being torn would have to do with parents or other family members. Sometimes when our parents argue - which is, of course, a normal part of life - we feel helpless and “caught in the middle,” thinking that we should be able to do something. We fear that each parent won’t feel our support and will think that we’re on the other one’s side. These conflicting, strong feelings really have no where else to go but to our dreams.
Another possibility is a conflict within the dreamer, themself. There could be something they want desperately to change about themself but feel like it’s impossible. So they feel torn between what they want and what they feel destined to have to settle for.
In either of the scenarios above, the nightmares can be stopped by confronting the conflict. If the dreamer feels trapped between other people’s disagreements, for example, voicing their support to each person but trying to stay out of the middle will do a world of good.
If it’s a self-oriented conflict - the sooner the dreamer realizes that he/she most definitely has control over the situation, the sooner the nightmares will give way to sweeter dreams. If the conflict involves losing weight - start walking as soon as you finish this post! If it involves trying to quit a habit, realize how much power this habit has over you right now - then take that power away from it!
Sit and think over a cup of coffee, can of coke, or glass of milk (whatever your own personal THINK DRINK might be). Try to pinpoint what it is that you feel “torn” over. Once you find the culprit, pour another cup or grab another can and search out the solution!!!
Best of Luck - and if the nightmares don’t stop, e-mail me again - or use the contact form. We’ll look a little deeper, if need be, until we find where the troubling dreams are coming from. They’ve got to go!
Thanks for sharing your dreams - others might be helped by your generosity.

hi i had two dreams , the first one was a huge snake at my neighbours door, then
when i ran home i was in the bedroom with my daughter and there was a snake that
had 3 heads and three tails attached together on my dresser. I asked my daughter
to leave the room and when she did the snake visiously attacked me biting my arm
and wouldn’t let go. The next night i had a beautiful dream of me buying a dog
he was so sweet he just wanted to stay in my arms and cuddle me . I woke up
feeling very calm. I would love to know the signifigance of these dreams. thank
you.
A snake with 3 heads would have finished me off - I’m not convinced I would have woken up from such a dream! I am TERRIFIED of the beasts, and if one went and had 3 heads….OMG!!!
Animal lovers (I’m speaking from experience here!) often have animals as the symbolisms in their dreams. If we have a chaotic day, where the stress levels are ceiling-high - we can expect the unmentionables, bears, tigers, or lions to show up in our dreams. However, if the day was a normal one - we’ll “celebrate” that happy occasion with a dream starring cats, rabbits, or dogs.
May your life never produce another day that brings about another 3 headed snake!

I dreamt of many big snakes…..I saw them swallowing people. The next night I
dreamt of small green ones…..
mOST OF THE TIMES i DONT DREAM OR OF i DO it is sweet dreams.I am a saved
persoin and Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour of my life.
Hi! I, too, am a Christian - but I’ve been known to have some pretty messed up dreams. Don’t let the snake dreams bother you too badly. Snakes usually represent something that we’re wrestling with in our lives - something we’re fighting against or fighting for.
It could symbolize school and school work, friendships, or a job. The snakes could also stand for struggles within your family. Alot of people will dream about snakes after fighting with a brother or sister. You gotta love that symbolism!
Thanks for sharing your dream AND your faith!

I had a dream about lice in my house it had been brought there by an intern from
work, the strange thing is he didn’t know he had it, it multiplied very quickly
although I only saw a few on his shirt. what does this mean. Beause in our
culture Zulu South Africa it means someone is practicing witchcraft on you.
Hi! I’m always so incredibly fascinated to hear from people from other countries and cultures. Thanks so much for sharing your dream.
Dreams of this type - when something like lice, rodents or bugs are where they shouldn’t be - indicate that there is somehting in your life that you want to be rid of….something you know you’d be better off without. Yet, whenever you try to take care of the situation - it seems to multiply!
People who are trying to quit a bad habit often have these sorts of dreams - especially when, during the day before the dream, they really struggled with the habit and didn’t gain any ground.
Best of luck to you!

I recently had a dream submitted for analysis that had to do with someone’s friend threatening to commit suicide. That’s the sort of dream that makes you regret going to sleep.
The real meaning behind this sort of dream is a feeling of helplessness. Usually there is at least one thing in the dreamer’s life that he/she feels helpless and nearly hopeless about. For a dream to be this intense, there are probably more than one thing, actually.
As a dreamologist, the most frustrating thing is that you want desperately to help, but without specifics - you can’t even offer a suggestion! All I’m certain of is that there’s a level of hopelessness involved. I just hope that the dreamer keeps fighting until they come out on top. I’m pulling for you.

I dreamt that I was taking a pregnancy test… But that was the end on it. The
Day before I dreamt that I was pregnant. What does this mean?
It’s all about expectations, actually. Oddly enough, this sort of dream rarely has anything to do with babies or children in any way.
If you’ve had the dream several times in a row - your subconcious is apparently all geared up expecting something to happen. Many times when we’re waiting for news - like from a potential job or college - or when we’re waiting for that someone special to ask us out, or we’re waiting for test results or word from a doctor, etc…. we’ll have this sort of dream. It’s almost as though our psyche is acting out because we’re so tired of waiting!
It could also be a matter of losing patience with someone or with yourself.
Thank you so much for submitting your dream. I hope your expectations are realized and everything goes just as you want it to.

I had an odd dream last night, I don’t remember much of it, I was enjoying
myself and the company of at least one other person that I knew…but I kept
hearing a voice say Schadenfreude. I don’t speak German. At all. Am wondering
what this could mean.
The word means to take pleasure in someone else’s misery. I suppose you’ve heard the word before, whether or not you remember having heard it. Many times, we’ll hear something without really registering that we’ve heard it. Sounds odd, I know, but it’s true.
I’d say that the word symbolizes pretty much what it would appear to. Someone you know - it could even be yourself - has recently heard about or witnessed the misfortune of another. Yet rather than feeling badly, they seemed to enjoy the mishap. You could very well be the person who had the misfortune, and you feel like no one seems to care enough…. maybe that someone in particular is even glad it happened.
Very unique dream - thanks for sharing,
Joi

A reader recently submitted a question about dreaming about their teeth falling out. They wanted to know what that symbolized.
It speaks of several things, actually. For one, when we feel like we’re on the verge of losing something, even if it’s just control of a situation, we’ll dream of losing our teeth or hair. On rare occasions, someone in this situation will dream of losing an arm or a leg. Basically, the dreamer is aware that something in their life is “at stake” and they’re worried that they won’t be able to keep it from getting away.
Dreams can be one of the best self help resources we have - they let us tap into what’s really going on inside our minds and then give us a chance to make things right. You can think of them as “warnings” - or “alerts.” They allow you to brace yourself and step up your efforts to get what you want in life.
Another thing this sort of dream symbolizes is a need for a little relaxation. If the dreamer is tense and is having trouble relaxing, he/she will often grind or clinch their teeth without realizing it. Even when sleeping. So, the dreamer may go on to dream about their teeth, since they’re extra aware of them.
So, go find you a comfortable spot and just relax every muscle in your body - especially the ones around your jaw!

I had a girl e-mail me recently and her question was direct and to the point: “I dreamt I was a zebra. What in the h— does that mean?” (She actually used dashes, a lady-like zebra.)
When we dream of the color combination black and white - whether it’s clothing or a zebra - it usually speaks of simplicity. Many times there’s a lot of chaos or business going on in our lives and we want to simplify the world as we know it.
Since our dreamer WAS the zebra, I believe she knows that she has the power to simplify her life….that ultimately, it is up to her.
Hope that helps, and in a world of crudeness, I was touched by the dashes.
