Dreams of Forgetfulness

Writing by Joi on Saturday, 31 of December , 2005 at 11:05 am

I recently had a young lady e-mail me about a recurring dream she was having. She said that each night she dreamt that she was in a play (she said she believed it to be a Shakespearean play), and that everything was beautiful and perfect until it came time for her to say her lines. She said that she consistently flubbed, or downright forgot, her line(s) every time.

I told her that the analysis for this type of dream is two-fold.

First of all, there is apparently some sort of fear and/or a feeling of being overwhelmed in the dreamer’s life. The stronger the feelings or emotions, the more likely the dreams are to become recurring in the first place - so these feelings of anxiety must be pretty strong.

Sometimes this sort of dream is telling the dreamer that they’re taking on too much….spreading themselves too thin. However, more times than not, the dream is actually encouraging the dreamer to buckle down and “get it done.” (Love it when our subconcious mind turns into a coach!)

Second of all, and of the most significance, this sort of dream is speaking to the dreamer’s feelings of self worth. It’s telling the dreamer that they need to start believing in themselves more, and to stop being afraid of failure or of coming up short.

I responded to her e-mail with a longer version of what you just read….she responded right back with an “OMG! That must be it exactly!” She then went on to say how she’s taking a full load in college - and having trouble with College Algebra (who wouldn’t?!), and that she’d been thinking lately that she’d bitten off too much. Then after thinking about it, she realized that she was lacking self confidence and belief in herself. She said she was going to work on that, because she had always been so sure of herself before college. Algebra will do that to a person!!!

I told her that she struck me as a brilliant person, and that struggling with Algebra didn’t mean she wasn’t extremely bright. She ended up with a B in the class, which to, me brands her as a genius!

The dreams went away and she’s got her groove back - Geometry is next up for her, and it won’t stand a chance either!!!

Have an awesome New Year!

Axe Dreams

Writing by Joi on Wednesday, 28 of December , 2005 at 12:11 am

Axes are symbolic of action and force. When seen in dreams, they are usually telling the dreamer that he or she needs to take action if they want to meet their goals and fulfill their dreams.

Nothing worthwhile comes from sitting around and waiting. Sometimes we need to have a fire lit under our feet, and that’s the purpose of Axe dreams….to get us moving!

Dream Symbol: The Moon

Writing by Joi on Friday, 16 of December , 2005 at 1:05 pm

The moon is a symbol for the deepest emotions a person can feel. Only the dreamer knows for sure if these emotions are positive, like love or excitement…. or negative, like hate or envy.

Usually, though not always, when you dream of a moon - it is a sign that you are trying to hide or mask these emotions that you’re feeling.

If you’re unsure of which emotions your dream is referring to, think about the rest of the dream. Is someone else in the dream - or at least a symbol or representation of them. Sometimes the person, themself, isn’t in the dream, but our mind comes up with something to represent them. The sleeping mind prefers to “speak” in symbols, and this goes for people as well as things and emotions.

For example, if you have a co-worker who hunts, an elk or bear could possibly represent him.

Once you know a few of the facts about the dream, the emotions should be pretty obvious. If not, a quick trick is to think about how you felt in the dream. If you were anxious or even angry in the dream - the emotions probably lean toward a negative emotion. If you are at peace and/or happy in the dream, the emotions are probably positive.

If you still aren’t sure, let me know - I’ll try to help unravel the mystery!

Dream Analysis: Trapped in the Past

Writing by Joi on Wednesday, 14 of December , 2005 at 4:45 pm

A recently submitted dream:

I dreamt that it was night/sunrise I was in a car and I was in the backseat crying because of my position. Then, after a woman became aware of situation, she went and confronted the person that placed me in the back seat saying, he knows he is wrong, you are his wife. Her child, around one mouth, was crying, almost in a language I could understand. It was weird because this is the first dream that I have had where I could see myself. I was standing in a mirror.

Then it flips to me being in my bedroom that I had as a child. The room was a rosy pink, just like when I was growing up. I spoke to my ex’s mother, who does not like me…When i tried to return her son’s call, she left me on hold….Then it flashed to me dreaming within the dream, Jim Carey with black teeth, saying that it is fraud to call someone from a cell phone using a house number (weird)…..Then there was just whiteness and within the white slate there was a green, two-headed snake that appeared to be alive, but hanging on barely……I woke up and my heart was racing and my esophagus was hurting really bad.

This is a really cool dream and its message is pretty clear: Basically it’s telling you that you are trapped in the past - particularly in the ex relationship “the mother” represents. The childish bedroom indicates the past, and the words “on hold” represent exactly where you’ve put your life by leaving one foot in the past.

Dentally dark Jim Carey and the ailing snake, in my opinion were tricks utilized by your mind to make sure you remembered the dream! Some of our deepest, most profound and insightful dreams will often have extreme oddities in them. They help us remember! After all, who’d forget an appearance by Jim Carey?!

Thanks for sharing your dream!

Sweet dreams,
Joi

Dream Analysis Request: Letting Go of an Ex-boyfriend

Writing by Joi on Wednesday, 14 of December , 2005 at 4:33 pm

We recently received the following dream from one of our visitors:

I recently broke up with my boyfriend…..I found out that he is dating someone else…..

I had a dream that he and I were sitting in a restaurant in the dark. Then he said he wanted to take his relationship with her to another level and he was going to ask her that morning. After that, the dream switches to a diner and the table and surroundings were green. The seats were black and the woman, who looked older and wrinkled, had sunshine blond hair and was wearing all black. My ex was sitting there, in white, eating. I kept walking by them and some man was holding me and rubbing me (dressed in black) and finally I walked up to the table and tasted his french toast and eggs. They tasted sweet.

Then all of a sudden, it flashes to another part of the dream where I am with another man and we squeeze into a small green car. We arrive at church and my Grandma came out and was talking about my ex and how he was addicted to marijuana. Then I hop in a car, but it was too crowded, so people began to get out. Finally, there was my mother, two elderly people from the church, and this younger man that I have been introduced to. The car was really small and green. I was driving and the older man in the couple said “I would never give her up. We have been together for twenty-five years.”

Last stage, I am in the middle of the street and my neice was getting off the school bus. Yet someone was standing in front of me, wearing red.

This dream is so vivid because it just happened. I need some clarity and peace to come out of this dream. I feel as though my boyfriend and I were supposed to be together, but he is not spiritually ready for me….

Starting at the beginning, at the restaurant, you’re sitting in the dark reprsents the time when you were “in the dark” about what was happening in the relationship. The colors of black and white represent, not suprisingly, conflict and pain.

If there had not been another man in the dream scenario, I’d say that you are still very hung up on this ex-boyfriend and that you’re having trouble moving on because you don’t want to. However, since there WAS a man in the picture, your subconcious apparently wants to move on, it just needs your heart’s permission to do so!

Mentally, you know how he hurt you and, in your dream, you even gave him over to his new girlfriend! You left the restaurant with someone else and left him and his new girlfriend behind…..just where your mind wants him to be: behind you.

The church symbolizes that you are seeking serenity and rest. Green, when seen in dreams, often indicates envy or jealousy. I’d say that, however, you aren’t jealous of this ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend as much as you’re simply a bit envious of people who are in happy, secure relationships. Understandably, you want that too!

The identity of the person in red who was in your way may come as a surprise to you…this was you, yourself! Red is a color our dreams use when they want to get our attention in the worst way - when it’s absolutely essential that we pay attention.

It may not be what you necessarily want to hear right now, but I believe your dream is telling you that it’s time to let go, put this boy out of your mind, get out of your own way, and find happiness elsewhere.

I saved my favorite part of the dream analysis for last: You know how you were eating Eggs at the beginning of your dream? This symbolizes that something new, exciting, and completely unexpected - of a romantic nature - is about to come into your life.

Keep an eye out for him!

Sweet dreams,
Joi

Recent Dream Analysis Request

Writing by Joi on Wednesday, 14 of December , 2005 at 4:04 pm

The dreamer wrote:

I guess i should start from the beginning. Two years ago my grandfather passed away from lung disease and it was an extremely emotional time for me because him and I were so close. The first two days after his death are still a blur to me because everytime i found myself calming down i’d begin to cry again.

Anyway, two days had passed since he had died and i ended up having an unusual dream. My aunt, my two cousins and I were all in the car on the way to get dinner at a fast food resturant. I remember coming out of the resturant with the food in my hands ready to get into the car when i looked over and saw my grandfather. I turned to my cousin and said _________ isn’t that papa? He turns to look at the man that im talking about and he looks back at me; Jesus….. it is him. He approaches the car door and gets into the front seat sitting next to my aunt. I dont remember what we all talked about in the car all i remember was we were all so happy to be seeing him again.

What seemed to have been 10 minutes later we all got out of the car and walked into a huge theatre where i was going to be performing in a christmas play (i love acting by the way). I walked backstage to get ready and the show began. I remember walking out on the stage and looking out at everyone in the audience. Everyone was there, and when i say everyone i mean EVERYONE, dead and alive. They were are looking up at me and admiring what i was doing. By the end of the show everyone came up to say hello and to congradulate me but the only one i remember clearly was my grandfather. He walked up towards me and just looked at me, he gave me a yellow rose (the same type of rose we put on his casket when he was burried). He says to me “I am so happy for you, you did an amazing job up there tonight i am so proud of you. He than paused and starred at me again and than continued by saying “I’ve always believed in you ________ I know that you will make it far and life and you will be successful.. just keep doing what you’re doing, i have faith in you. ” I started to cry and told him i missed him and i loved him. He looked at me again, and that look said it all. He replied “I love and miss you too.” He kissed my forehead, turned around, and as he was walking away his body just vanished. What does all of that mean?

First of all, I’m very sorry about your grandfather - it sounds like you were very close.

This type of dream is very typical when we’ve lost someone we love. Your mind literally “pieced together” your life, putting back in the missing pieces you miss so much.

I also think, that, in your dream (when you dreamt that you were on stage) - it was your realization that you aren’t nearly as healed as you may pretend to be or act. Grief takes years to completely heal, and these types of dreams are your mind’s way of coping.

Thank you for sharing your dream. Take care of yourself and give your mind and heart all the time they need to heal.

Sweet dreams,
Joi

Sleep Apnea

Writing by Joi on Monday, 12 of December , 2005 at 2:17 pm

Many people are suffering from undiagnosed sleeping disorders, meaning there could be a physical reason why they’re missing out on all the sleep they need. There’s a great article Newsweek Health on MSNBC.com on sleep apnea. It includes the latest findings on Sleep Apnea, as well as other sleeping disorders. There are also quite a few tips for getting more sleep - and for giving more quality to the sleep you do get!

Dream Prophesy - Is It For Real?

Writing by Joi on Thursday, 8 of December , 2005 at 2:40 pm

Thousands of people claim that their lives have been changed, and oftentimes even saved, because of a warning they received in a dream.

In 1912, for example, when news of the sinking of the Titanic broke, there were countless reports of people who had cancelled their passage because they had dreamed that the ship sank.

Similar reports came out following the Hindenberg disaster in 1937.

Certainly not all dreams are prophetic (in fact, far more aren’t than are), but there seems to be an overwhelming amounnt of evidence that many are, in fact, glimpses into the future.
